KIHON

This set of techniques makes up Kata 3 - Saifa.

1) Hiza geri - Knee Strike
2) Heiko Zuki - Parallel Punch
3) Tetsui - Hammer Fist
4) Ashi Barae - Leg Sweep
5) Ura Zuki - Close Punch

KATA

The meaning of the Kata Saifa is ‘to Smash and Tear’, and is the first Kata that we have a Bunkai for. Bunkai is the application of the techniques in a Kata. When practising the Bunkai, we have an opponent attack us with punches, kicks and grabs, and use the moves of the Kata to escape and strike.

COMBOS

For Orange Belt, students are required to pefrom all of combo 2.

/1/ Chudan Mawashi Geri (Body Kick) /2/ Spin and Ushiro Geri (Backwards Heel Kick)
/3/ Chudan Zuki (Body Punch) /4/ Push off front foot and absorb & block

/5/ Kizami /6/ Front Leg Mawashi Geri /7/ Double Push Backwards
/8/ Back Leg Uramawashi Geri (Hook Kick)

ESCAPES

The Choke and Tackle escapes are required for 6th Kyu Orange Belt.
Increasing their understanding of escapes, students now focus on keeping relaxed and mindful when grabbed from any of the wrist, clothes, choke or takle escapes.
