Kihon
Kihon (basics) are the foundation of Karate, including Blocks, Punches, Strikes and Kicks. From Kihon we can create our Kata (forms). The order of all our Kihon goes in the order they appear in Kata, so when we pratise one - we pratise the other too.
A fundamental idea of Karate is to have control one’s body movements. In Kihon, we are very specific about where we put the hands and feet. Strikes should be aimed at the designated target, while our feet are a good position and we are thinking about head staying protected.
Kihon also includes throws, or takedowns, which are used to get our opponent on the ground. They start from 5th Kyu (Purple Belt), and a video of all of them can be found at the bottom.
